How can I change what people see in the online directory?
The Online Directory pulls all its information about you from your profile. To view your profile, click on your photo or profile icon at the top of the page and choose “Profile.”
Each section can be edited independently by clicking the pencil at the top-right of the section. You can change the contents of your profile - including your employment history, job skills, profile picture, etc.
You can control what profile information others see under “Privacy Settings.”
- Click on your photo or profile icon
- Choose “Profile”
- Choose the “My Account” tab
- Select “Privacy Settings” from the drop-down menu
How do I change my CSDA Communities notifications?
To change how frequently you get emails from your subscribed Communities:
- Log onto csda.net
- Click your photo or profile icon
- Choose Profile
- Select My Account from the menu tabs
- Select Community Notifications from the dropdown menu
For each Community you're subscribed to, you can toggle between Real Time, Daily Digest, and No Email.
- Real Time sends you notifications as discussions and other content appears in the Community.
- Daily Digest sends a once-a-day summary of everything that happened in the Community in the last 24 hours.
- No Email turns off all notifications from that Community.
You can also get one Consolidated Digest instead of multiple Digests! A Consolidated Digest bundles notifications from multiple Communities into a single email, sent once per day or per week, keeping you up to date on multiple Communities while minimizing congestion in your inbox.
This setting is most commonly employed by setting all the Communities you wish to include in the Consolidated Digest to No Email, then checking the box for each under the Consolidated Daily or Weekly Digest column, depending on how frequently you want to receive these digests.
If you need assistance with your notification settings, please contact updates@csda.net.
Manage Email and Spam
First, for all email services: Add the sender’s email address to your contacts or address book. Other options to remedy this are specific to the email service you use, including the following:
Gmail
- Open the email that was sent to spam.
- If you haven’t removed it from your Spam folder yet, click the “Not Spam” button at the top of the email.
Microsoft Outlook
In the Microsoft Outlook desktop program (not to be confused with Outlook.com, described below), there’s a special option that prevents emails from getting marked as spam.
- Click the “Junk” button in the Delete section on the ribbon and select “Never Block Sender”
Outlook.com
Outlook.com considers emails from your contacts to be important, so you can simply add an email address to your contacts and emails from that sender shouldn’t be marked as spam in the future.
To do this, click an email from that sender and locate the sender’s email address at the top of the email. Click it and then click the “Add” button. Enter whatever information you want for the contact and then click “Save” to add the email address to your contacts.
Yahoo! Mail
In Yahoo! Mail, add the sender to your contacts to avoid their messages diverting to spam:
- Open an email from that sender
- Click the sender’s email address at the top of the email
- Mouse over the “…” menu at the bottom of the popup
- Click “Add to contacts”
- Enter whatever information you want for the contact
- Click “Save”
Again, for services and email clients not mentioned here, you can almost always prevent emails from getting sent to spam simply by adding the sender to your address book or contacts.
If it has an option to mark as “Not Spam” or “Remove From Spam,” or something similar, you can always click that too. However, it’s generally better to add a sender to your contacts. That’s a clearer signal to your email service that you want to see emails from that sender.
