Last year, nine special districts responded to all four of CSDA’s major Calls-to-Action earning the distinction as CSDA’s 2024 Advocacy All-Stars. On behalf of all special districts and the communities they serve, CSDA salutes the board members and staff of these special districts for recognizing the value of taking action in our Capitol and making Districts Stronger Together.

2024 Special District Advocacy All-Stars:

  1. Bear Valley Water District
  2. Fresno Mosquito and Vector Control District
  3. Groveland Community Services District
  4. North County Fire Protection District (San Diego County)
  5. Tahoe City Public Utility District
  6. Three Valleys Municipal Water District
  7. Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District
  8. Twain Harte Community Services District
  9. Vista Irrigation District

This year’s Calls-to-Action, found at csda.net/take-action, included:

CSDA was pleased to play a critical role in support of ACA 13 (Ward) and to see Initiative #1935 ultimately removed from the state ballot. While the U.S. Senate failed to act on H.R. 7525, the National Special Districts Coalition achieved tremendous progress on this historic effort to define special districts in federal law, earning broad bi-partisan support in the U.S. House of Representatives and passing the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee with just one “No” vote. Meanwhile, despite the California Department of Housing and Community Development pushing forward with updated Surplus Land Act Guidelines, CSDA and others have helped to hold the line on repeated legislative efforts to make local property management decisions more costly and litigious.

As CSDA fights to continue elevating the voice of special districts and the communities they serve, we invite each and every special district to become an Advocacy All-Star by responding to every call-to-action in 2025!
