Special districts in San Joaquin County and across the state recognized Assemblmember Rhodesia Ransom (AD-13) as the CSDA’ Legislator of the Year at an event held at the Stanislaus-San Joaquin Bi-County Chapter meeting last week.
This annual award is presented to a lawmaker for their outstanding support of the local service specialists responsible for providing water, sanitation, healthcare, fire protection, parks, open space, resource conservation, mosquito abatement, and other essential services and infrastructure to communities throughout California.
The CSDA Chapter meeting was held at the San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District in the Assembly Member’s home legislative district. Speaking on behalf of CSDA’s membership were Lorenzo Rios, President of the CSDA Board of Directors, Katie Patterson, President of the Stanislaus-San Joaquin Bi-County Special Districts Chapter, and Rich Silverman, Board President of the Mosquito and Vector Control District,
“Assemblymember Ransom has been a real champion for special districts,” stated CSDA Board President Rios. “The Assemblymember and her staff have engaged in our locally-driven policy and fiscal issues with impacts throughout California. Since her election, she has been a strong advocate for special districts. We look forward to the Assemblymember continuing to be a strong ally.”
"I am honored to be named Legislator of the Year by the California Special Districts Association," said Assemblymember Ransom. “Special districts are essential to our communities, even when their work isn’t always visible. From water and flood control to mosquito abatement, these services keep our neighborhoods safe and functioning, and it’s critical that state policy reflects the real-world impact of that work.”
Assemblymember Ransom will join special district leaders throughout the state for breakfast and remarks April 7 at Special Districts Legislative Days in Sacramento. You can register for that event here. Be sure to register before the March 6 Early Bird deadline.
