At its April 14 meeting, the CSDA Board of Directors formally approved an affiliation agreement with the new Stanislaus-San Joaquin Bi-County Special Districts Association. The expanded association becomes CSDA’s fifth multi-county chapter, joining the Central Valley Local Chapter of CSDA, the Gold Country Regional Chapter, the Mid-State Special Districts Association, and the Northeastern California Chapter of CSDA.
This new Chapter is an expansion of the Stanislaus County Special District Association, which became affiliated with CSDA in 2021. Shortly after this affiliation, San Joaquin County special districts began conversations to form their own chapter. After multiple meetings, the formation group reached out to the existing Stanislaus Chapter to discuss joining together and both sides saw the value in combining to include San Joaquin County districts.
The goals of the new Chapter are to expand its advocacy influence in the Central Valley and to foster communication between special districts within and between the two counties. The chapter meetings will rotate locations to accommodate all districts.
The first meeting of the newly affiliated Chapter will be on June 1, from 9:30am-11:00am at the Modesto Irrigation District.
