WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support the physical preservation of a broad variety of cultural resources associated with the founding of America as a nation in commemoration of the country's semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary of founding. State governments and territories; local governments, including certified local governments, and county, city, and township governments; public, state-controlled, private, and nonprofit institutions of higher education; federally recognized Native American tribal governments, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiian organizations; Native American tribal organizations; and nonprofit organizations
