On October 28 in San Diego, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is holding a free forum aimed at local elected officials, including special district board members, as well as high-level public agency staff such as General Managers.
The purpose of the CalPERS forum is to discuss key issues and upcoming policy decisions related to the long-term funding of CalPERS. The CalPERS management team will share information related to pension costs, projections, investment strategies to address unfunded liabilities, health care, and post-retirement benefit cost management. CalPERS Board of Administration members are anticipated to be in attendance as well. Although the event is no cost, it is considered a “forum within a forum” held in connection with the CalPERS annual conference, the CalPERS Educational Forum.
