This is your weekly grant opportunities update from The National Special Districts Coalition. Special districts are either eligible to apply directly, or able to partner with a qualifying entity to apply for any of the grants listed.

Environmental Protection Agency

FY 2022 Enhanced Air Quality Monitoring for Communities

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program supports community and local efforts to monitor their own air quality and to promote air quality monitoring partnerships between communities and tribal, state, and local governments. The goals of the program are to monitor air pollutants of greatest concern in communities with disproportionate and adverse health outcomes. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local, territorial, and Tribal governments, public and private hospitals and laboratories, and other public or private nonprofit organizations

Department of Energy

FY 2021 Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) Enhancement and Innovation

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program aims to increase the energy efficiency of dwellings owned or occupied by low-income persons, reduce their total residential energy expenditures, and improve their health and safety. The program will fund demonstration projects that have potential to be scaled nationally, enhance the benefits realized by underserved communities, and ensure an equitable transition to a clean-energy economy. WHEN'S IT DUE? January 20, 2022 (concept paper) and February 28, 2022 (full application)

 

Department of Transportation

FY 2022 Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides loans and loan guarantees to finance the development of railroad infrastructure throughout the nation. Funding is reserved for projects benefiting freight railroads other than Class I carriers. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Railroads, state and local governments, government-sponsored authorities and corporations, interstate compacts, and joint ventures that include at least one of the above-listed eligible entities

WHEN'S IT DUE? Rolling through September 30, 2021

 

Department of Interior

FY 2022 Coastal Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides technical and financial assistance to restore and protect fish and wildlife habitat on public and private lands. This program takes an adaptive approach to designing and implementing coastal habitat protection and restoration strategies that anticipate and ameliorate the impacts of climate change and other environmental stressors. WHO'S ELIGIBLE? States, local governments, special districts, independent school districts, private and public institutions of higher education, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, public housing authorities and Indian housing authorities, Native American tribal organizations, nonprofits organizations, for-profit organizations, and small businesses

Department of Interior

FY 2022 Partners for Fish and Wildlife

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program supports the restoration and conservation of fish and wildlife habitat for the benefit of federal trust resources by providing technical and financial assistance to private landowners to promote biological diversity. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Eligibility is unrestricted and includes small businesses, institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, public housing authorities, Native American tribal organizations, independent school districts, local governments, state governments, and other entities

WHEN'S IT DUE? Rolling through September 30, 2022

 

Department of Interior

FY 2022 Youth Engagement, Education, and Employment

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides work and educational opportunities for youth in the areas of national and cultural resource conservation, development, and scientific research on public lands. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? State or local government entities, special districts, public and private institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations. Applicants must be members of the funding agency's Youth Corps.

Department of Health and Human Services

FY 2022 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part C: Capacity Development Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to strengthen organizational capacity to respond to the changing health care landscape and increase access to high-quality human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) primary health care services for low-income and underserved people living with HIV. Funding will support short-term activities that align with the funding agency's priority areas, including investing in mental health, addressing the opioid crisis, and promoting collaboration. WHEN'S IT DUE? February 15, 2022

 

Department of Defense

FY 2022 Industry Resilience

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program assists communities with funding and technical assistance to plan adjustments and resiliency required by the cancellation or termination of a Department of Defense (DoD) contract, the failure to proceed with an approved major weapon system program, or by a publicly announced planned major change or reduction in DoD spending that would directly and adversely affect a community. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? States, counties, municipalities, Tribal nations, and other subdivisions of states, special purpose units of state or local government, or other political subdivisions of state or local government
