Important CSDA Professional Development Updates

2020 CSDA Annual Conference & Exhibitor Showcase
has been cancelled.


Special District Leadership Academy (SDLA)
at this time CSDA is planning to proceed with the SDLA Conferences.

  • SDLA Conference – South Lake Tahoe – September 27 – 30 (no session on 09/30 for returning attendees). First time and Returning attendee tracks are offered at this location. First time is limited to 80 attendees and returning is limited to 40 attendees due to social distancing requirements. 
  • SDLA Conference – San Diego – November 15 -18. First time attendee track only at this location. This conference is limited to 40 attendees due to social distancing requirements. Attendees that were previously registered for the advanced track at this location have the option to change to the Lake Tahoe location or receive a refund. Advanced track attendees at this location in the CSDA room block have had their hotel reservations cancelled.
  • Special District Leadership Academy (SDLA) Modules - CSDA plans to offer each of the four modules of the Academy as virtual workshops, limited to 30 attendees each to maximize attendee engagement, before the end of 2020. The Special District Leadership Foundation will accept these virtual workshops for District of Distinction and Certificate in Special District Governance Programs through the end of 2020 due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic.


Districts can request a virtual presentation of any of the SDLA Modules by contacting Megan Hemming at meganh@csda.net for pricing and availability.

Scholarships are available through the Special District Leadership Foundation to cover attendee registration fees for either of the SDLA Conferences or the virtual SDLA modules. NEW! There are NO district budget limits for most scholarships for the remainder of 2020 and scholarship applications can be approved the same day they are submitted online. 

Scholarship funds cannot be used for district requested workshops.

 

Board Secretary / Clerk Conference at this time CSDA is planning to proceed with this conference. We are planning a schedule that will allow for maximum social distancing.

  • First-time attendees, 130 max, would participate on Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27.
  • Advanced / Returning attendees, 130 max, would participate on Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29.
  • Exhibitors would participate on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27 and 28.
  • Scholarships are available through the Special District Leadership Foundation to cover attendee registration fees for Board Secretary / Clerk Conference. NEW! There are NO district budget limits for most scholarships for the remainder of 2020 and scholarship applications can be approved the same day they are submitted online. 
  • There is a complimentary webinar for Board Secretaries and Clerks on July 9 “Board Secretaries and Clerks Inspiration and Knowledge” presented by the 2019 Board Secretary / Clerk keynote speaker Sandy Geroux.


Virtual Workshops

In addition to the virtual SDLA modules, CSDA currently has the following virtual workshops available:

Webinars

CSDA is currently offering our planned schedule of on-demand and live webinars. We have also added a large number of FREE webinars related to COVID-19. Those webinars are announced as they are added to the schedule in the COVID-19 Online Community. You can also access on-demand COVID-19 webinars through the COVID-19 Online Community

Scholarships are available through the Special District Leadership Foundation to cover attendee registration fees for any webinars that require payment. NEW! There are NO district budget limits for most scholarships for the remainder of 2020 and scholarship applications can be approved the same day they are submitted online. 

 

District Websites

The Special District Leadership Foundation has increased the district budget limit from $500,000 to $2 million for the remainder of 2020. Applications are available on the SDLF website.
