Special districts operating medium- and heavy-duty vehicle fleets in California may now be eligible for infrastructure funding through the EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles Program.
This program is funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC) through its Clean Transportation Program and administered by CALSTART. It provides grants to support the deployment of battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle infrastructure for Class 2b and above vehicles.
The Fast Track 2025 lane consolidates three prior funding categories—EV Fast Track, Hydrogen, and EV Public Charging—into a single, streamlined opportunity open May 13 for applications.
It offers grants for infrastructure projects that support the deployment of public, private, or shared-use ZEV charging or fueling stations for commercial vehicles.
Special districts may apply if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Fleet Operator: Operate medium- or heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (Class 2b or higher) within California and plan to own and operate the supporting infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Developer: Are responsible for planning, building, or managing EV charging or hydrogen fueling stations that will serve medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs operating in the state.
