The deadline for 2027 Legislative Proposal submissions is approaching. Districts may submit ideas to create or improve laws affecting all special districts statewide regardless of geographic region or type(s) of service provided.
Submissions will be reviewed by CSDA staff and assessed for political implications, potential consequences, cost of implementation, likelihood of success, and other relevant factors. Proposals will then be presented to the CSDA Legislative Committee for consideration.
CSDA members are invited to submit a proposal by September 2 for CSDA to consider sponsoring legislation in the 2027 legislative year. Share your legislative proposal by completing and submitting the 2027 Legislative Proposal Submission Form linked above.
This year CSDA sponsored Assembly Concurrent Resolution 161. ACR 161 (Addis) which proclaimed the week of April 5, 2026, to April 11, 2026, to be Special Districts Week. CSDA also co-sponsored SB 992 (Niello) County auditors: special districts: annual audit exceptions and SB 1005 (Carrillo) Local agency: payment: rounding amount.
Once again, the deadline for CSDA members to submit a 2027 Legislative Proposal Submission Form is September 2, 2026. For any questions, please contact CSDA Legislative Analyst Ophelia Szigeti at ophelias@csda.net.
Is your special district sponsoring its own legislative proposal in the coming session? We want to hear from you too!
