CSDA is proud to announce that the investment program it helped to create less than 3 years ago, California CLASS, has reached a significant milestone surpassing $2 billion in Assets Under Management (AUM). This achievement reflects the continued confidence of California’s public sector entities in California CLASS, with over 230 participating agencies now benefiting from the program — more than 80% of which are special districts.

This remarkable growth highlights the critical role California CLASS plays in helping local agencies, particularly special districts, manage their funds safely, efficiently, and transparently.

The overwhelming adoption of California CLASS by special districts underscores the program’s alignment with their investment needs.

Why Special Districts Trust California CLASS:

1. Public Agency-Focused Investment Philosophy

California CLASS is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) investment pool created by public agencies, for public agencies. Its investment policies prioritize safety, liquidity, and competitive yield, adhering strictly to California Government Code Section 53601.

2. Transparency and Oversight

California CLASS is governed by a five member Board of Trustees composed entirely of representatives from participating agencies...three of which are currently from special districts. This peer-led governance model ensures decisions are made in the best interest of the participants.

3. Operational Simplicity and Liquidity

Special districts benefit from California CLASS’s daily liquidity, same-day transactions, and no minimum investment requirement — enabling greater flexibility in investment funds management.

4. Solid Performance and Trustworthy Management

Managed by Public Trust Advisors (PTA), California CLASS combines rigorous credit analysis with deep experience in public sector investment strategies. This professional stewardship has supported the steady growth of California CLASS, even amid dynamic economic conditions.
