Join us in celebrating Special Districts Week! If you are not one of the nearly 200 special district leaders from throughout California gathering in Sacramento today to advocate on behalf of the communities special districts serve, you can still participate. Assembly Concurrent Resolution 36, authored by Assembly Local Government Committee Chair Juan Carrillo, was introduced on February 20, 2025, proclaiming the week of May 18, 2025 – May 24, 2025, to be Special Districts Week. Since the introduction of the resolution, we have proudly secured sixty-seven co-authors joining in recognition of the essential role special districts play in local governance.

This week encourages Californians across the state to engage with their local communities and to be actively involved with their local government and special districts. Special Districts Week additionally coincides with CSDA’s 2025 Special Districts Legislative Days conference held at the Sacramento Sheraton Hotel on May 20 and 21. 

On May 8, ACR 36 successfully passed the California State Assembly without opposition. The resolution was referred to the California State Senate Rules Committee on May 12, where it now awaits a committee hearing date.
