This is your weekly grant opportunities update from The National Special Districts Coalition. Special districts are either eligible to apply directly, or able to partner with a qualifying entity to apply for any of the grants listed.

Department of Justice


FY 2022 Intellectual Property Enforcement Program: Protecting Public Health, Safety, and the Economy from Counterfeit Goods and Product Piracy

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program seeks to reduce intellectual property (IP) theft and related crime by supporting improved coordination of enforcement efforts among federal, state, and local authorities. Funding will be provided for law enforcement agencies that have an IP enforcement task force, or that plan to create one, to collaborate with relevant state, local, territorial, tribal, and federal agencies. Click here for more information.

FY 2022 COPS School Violence Prevention Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to improve security at schools and on school grounds through the implementation of evidence-based school safety programs and technology. Awards will be provided for projects that include funding of civilian personnel to serve as coordinators with local law enforcement, training for local law enforcement officers, purchase and installation of certain allowable equipment and technology, and other measures to significantly improve school security. FY 2022 Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides funding to prevent and reduce violent crime in communities by supporting comprehensive, evidence-based violence intervention and prevention programs, including efforts to address gang and gun violence, based on partnerships among community residents, local government agencies, victim service providers, community-based organizations, law enforcement, hospitals, researchers, and other community stakeholders. FY 2022 Process and Technology Improvement Grants

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program aims to develop and implement projects that focus on improving the quality and efficiency of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) operations and processes. Proposed project activities may include utilizing technology-based tools to expand enrollment of underserved populations, aiding in the transition from pandemic operations and improve disaster response operations, or modernizing SNAP customer service, client communication, and administrative processes to improve accessibility, transparency, and responsiveness. WHO'S ELIGIBLE? State and local governments, agencies providing health or welfare services, public health or educational entities, and private nonprofit entities such as community-based or faith-based organizations, food banks, or other emergency feeding organizations

FY 2023 Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Energy Audit (EA) and Renewable Energy Development Assistance (REDA) Grants

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to strengthen American energy independence by increasing the private sector supply of renewable energy and decreasing the demand for energy through energy-efficiency improvements. Funding will support eligible organizations to establish programs to assist rural small businesses and agricultural producers by conducting and promoting energy audits (EAs) and providing renewable energy development assistance (REDA), including renewable energy technical assistance and renewable energy site assessments. Click here for more information.

FY 2022 Community Facilities Technical Assistance and Training Grant

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support eligible entities in providing technical assistance and/or training with respect to essential community facilities programs. Provided technical assistance and/or training will help eligible ultimate recipients to identify and plan for community facility needs that exist in their area. Once those needs have been identified, award recipients may assist in identifying public and private resources to finance identified community facility needs. Click here for more information.

FY 2022 Transitional Living Program 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support projects that help runaway and homeless youth ranging from 16 to under 22 years of age establish sustainable living and well-being for themselves and, if applicable, their dependent children. Ultimately, projects should successfully transition youth experiencing homelessness into adulthood through the promotion of self-sufficient and sustainable living and learning skills to promote economic independence in order to prevent long-term dependence on social services. Click here for more information.

FY 2022 Maternity Group Home Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program promotes long-term, economic independence and stability to ensure the well-being of youth and young families through supportive services. All Maternity Group Home projects must provide shelter and supportive services. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Public (state, and local, and tribal) and private nonprofit entities (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations) and coordinated networks of such entities

WHEN'S IT DUE? June 27, 2022


FY 2022 Trafficking Victim Assistance Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program funds time-limited comprehensive case management services to foreign national adults who are confirmed or potential victims of a severe form of human trafficking. Projects may provide responsive case management, maintain a network of community service providers, or establish regional coordination to support service delivery through various providers. Click here for more information.
