Action Needed Before June 15 Budget Vote: Special Districts Access to COVID-19 Relief

By Kristin Withrow posted 05-28-2021 02:02 PM

Special districts continue to be urged to take action by contacting your legislators this week to advocate for funding, as budget sub-committees close out their budget items and full budget committees are scheduled to begin.

What:  Please call, email, or post to social media and urge your Legislators to dedicate relief funds to your district.

When:  This week, before budget determinations are made.

Why:   As it currently stands in the Budget, many special districts continue to be excluded from access to COVID-relief funding.  It is imperative that your local legislators hear from you and your district what the lack of funding could mean to your community.

Alternatively, there are funding proposals for some district types that will need district support to ultimately get included in the final budget.

ASK:  Below is a chart detailing districts with funding proposals on the table and districts that continue to be excluded.

Please adjust the sample email to speak to your situation and either advocate for adoption of funding proposals or for expansion of funding priorities to include funding for all special districts – and specifically your district.
