GovDeals offers CSDA members a simple, transparent, and turnkey way to tackle the often-tedious job of disposing of their agency’s surplus assets. In 2020, 47 California Special Districts recovered over $700,000 in revenue by auctioning their assets on GovDeals.com. Since 2017, The South Placer Municipal Utility District has auctioned over $113,000 worth of surplus on GovDeals, including everything from service vehicles to file cabinets.
The GovDeals solution is offered at no cost to the selling agency as our fee is paid by the buyer. CSDA Member South Placer Municipal Utility District had this to say about the solution:
The South Placer Municipal Utility District started using GovDeals to dispose of surplus items in early 2017. Prior to that, the District utilized internal sources and local auction houses to sell unwanted equipment and vehicles that had exceeded their useful lives and were no longer needed or used by the District. Often times, the District received little to no value and items were often scrapped. Since working with GovDeals, the District has been allowed to market its surplus items on a nationwide scale. This has allowed the District to realize salvage values much higher than anticipated and substantially more than we had historically received. Additionally, our interactions with the representatives at GovDeals has always been extremely positive. They provide great support, are very responsive to our questions, and have been a pleasure to work with. We consider GovDeals as a partner in the District’s mission to provide efficient and effective sanitary sewer service.
