The California Department of Health (CDPH), through the Drafting Guidelines Workgroup, has identified the initial phases of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. The list of identified groups individuals and employees eligible to receive the vaccine can be found here on the California Department of Public Health's website. In addition to healthcare workers and vulnerable populations being included in the initial phases, the Workgroup has included in Phase 1C "[t]hose at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: water and wastewater; defense; energy; chemical and hazardous materials; communications and IT; financial services; government operations / community-based essential functions."
California is currently distributing the vaccine to those in Phase 1A with the hopes of being able to begin vaccinating those in Phase 1B sometime in late January. A date specific for distribution to Phase 1C has not yet been identified and there is potentially additional groups of individuals or employees that will be added to that Phase. The Drafting Guidelines Workgroup will continue to meet to determine the future phases of vaccine rollout that will be added to CDPH's website.
