Today, CalPERS announced launching their pension calculation tool called "Pension Outlook." According to CalPERS, "Pension Outlook is a tool to help plan and budget pension costs into the future with easy to understand results and charts."
The tool will allow you to view projected funded status and required contributions for pension plans in different potential scenarios for up to 30 years into the future. The tool can't predict the future but it can help agency plan for the future.
Pension Outlook can help answer specific questions about plans, including:
When plans are expected to increase in funded status?
What happens to required contributions in a down market?
How the discount rate assumption affect contributions?
What the impact of making an additional discretionary payment to plans will be?
for more information visit the
Pension Outlook
page on CalPERS' website.
