The National Special Districts Coalition provides weekly highlights for CSDA Members on newly-opened federal grant opportunities, as curated by The Ferguson Group (TFG). This week’s selection of grants include:


New Grant Opportunities

 

Department of Transportation

FY 2022 Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to invest in a wide range of projects within the U.S to improve railroad safety, efficiency, and reliability; mitigate congestion at both intercity passenger and freight rail chokepoints to support more efficient travel and goods movement; enhance multi-modal connections; and lead to new or substantially improved Intercity Passenger Rail Transportation corridors. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? states, local governments, Amtrak or other rail carriers that provide intercity rail passenger transportation, Class II or class III railroads, an association representing one or more railroads, rail carriers or rail equipment manufacturers in partnership with a state or local government, the Transportation Research Board, university transportation centers engaged in rail-related research, and non-profit labor organizations representing a class or craft of employees of rail carriers or carrier contractors

WHEN'S IT DUE? December 1, 2023

 

Department of Agriculture

FY 2023 Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) Programs

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program supports projects that promote rural economic development and job creation. Awards will be provided in the form of grants or loans to successful applicants, who will pass the funding through to business and community borrowers, or ultimate recipients, in the form of loans. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local and state governments, corporations, people's utility districts, and cooperative, nonprofit, or limited-dividend associations

WHEN'S IT DUE? June 30, 2023

 

Department of Agriculture

FY 2023 Intermediary Relending Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program alleviates poverty and increases economic activity and employment in rural communities, especially disadvantaged and remote communities. This program will provide direct loans to intermediaries that will establish revolving loan programs for the purpose of providing loans to ultimate recipients to promote community development, establish new businesses, establish and support microlending programs, and create or retain employment opportunities in rural areas. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Public agencies, Indian tribes, cooperative entities and private nonprofit corporations

WHEN'S IT DUE?  June 30, 2023

 

Department of Health and Human Services

FY 2022 Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness And Resiliency in Education) 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to develop a sustainable infrastructure for school-based mental health programs and services. Award recipients will build a collaborative partnership that includes the state education agency (SEA), a local education agency (LEA), the state mental health agency (SMHA), a tribal education agency (TEA), community-based providers of behavioral health care services, school personnel, community organizations, families, and school-aged youth. Click here for more information.

Department of Housing and Urban Development

FY 2022 Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program supports comprehensive projects that make safety and functional home modification repairs and renovations to meet the needs of low-income, elderly homeowners. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local and state governments, special districts, nonprofit organizations, and public housing authorities

WHEN'S IT DUE? October 13, 2022

 

Department of Housing and Urban Development

FY 2022 HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH)

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to enable homeless veterans and their families to access affordable housing with an array of supportive services by providing HUD-VASH vouchers to public housing agencies. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local and state governments, public housing agencies currently administering a housing choice voucher program

WHEN'S IT DUE? September 16, 2022

 

Department of Interior

FY 2023 Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) Grant Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to provide financial support for neotropical migratory bird (NMB) conservation projects throughout the Western hemisphere and to foster international cooperation for initiatives that will perpetuate healthy bird populations. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local and state governments; private sectors;

corporations, partnerships, trusts, associations, and other private entities;

officers, employees, agents, departments, and instrumentalities of the federal; International organizations; other entities subject to the jurisdiction of the United States or of any foreign country. 

WHEN'S IT DUE? November 3, 2022



Districts pursuing grants but are uncertain of their options may complete NSDC’s Project Idea Portal for a connection directly to TFG.
