The April 17 deadline for agencies to file their FEMA Request for Public Assistance (RPA) forms has been extended. On an April 10 regional coordination call involving multiple state and federal agencies, FEMA staff indicated that FEMA will accept notification from agencies up to 30 days past the end of the current incident date. However, it is strongly advised that agencies file the RPA sooner rather than later. Also, agencies should be documenting all costs associated with COVID-19 for submittal to FEMA at a later date.
Governor Newsom continues to hold daily briefings at noon to provide updates on the state’s efforts on COVID-19. These live events can be accessed via the Governor’s Facebook and Twitter pages. The briefings cover a wide variety of topics, some of which directly impact special districts. Last week, topics included nursing home health and safety, unemployment insurance, and childcare. In addition, on Thursday, April 9, the Governor announced that he had signed Executive Order N-48-20, relating to the timing of local government elections. This may impact some special district election proceedings; please review the Order for any potential effect on your agency.
