This is your weekly grant opportunities update from The National Special Districts Coalition. Special districts are either eligible to apply directly, or able to partner with a qualifying entity to apply for any of the grants listed.

Environmental Protection Agency:

FY 2021 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) School Bus Rebates Program 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program offers rebates for retrofits or replacements of school buses to reduce harmful emissions from older, dirtier, diesel vehicles. New buses are expected to reduce pollution by over 90 percent compared to older diesel buses and may use the following fuel types: diesel or gasoline, propane, natural gas, or battery or hydrogen electric. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Regional, state, or tribal agencies that have jurisdiction over transportation and air quality, including school districts and municipalities, and private entities that operate school buses under contacts with the types of entities listed above

Department of Interior:

FY 2021 Historic Preservation Fund- History of Equal Rights: Preservation Grants 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The National Park Service’s (NPS) History of Equal Rights Grant Program (HER) will preserve sites related to the struggle of all American's to achieve equal rights. HER grants will fund a broad range of preservation projects for historic sites including: architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation to structures. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? States and territories, federally recognized Tribes, Alaska native organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations, local government, and nonprofit organizations

WHEN'S IT DUE? December 1, 2021

FY 2022 Historical Preservation Fund (HPF): African American Civil Rights (AACR) Grant Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to document, interpret, and preserve sites related to the full history of the African American struggle to gain equal rights. Funding will support a broad range of history projects for historic sites. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? State and local governments, nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, independent school districts, federally recognized Tribes, Native American tribal organizations, Alaskan Native organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations

WHEN'S IT DUE? December 1, 2021


Department of Health and Human Services:

FY 2022 Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program aims to promote optimal health and well-being for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families by advancing a well-functioning system of services in which families and health professionals partner in health care decision making. F2F HICs supported through this program will provide information, education, technical assistance, and peer support to families of CYSHCN and the professionals who serve them.
