The Assembly:

The California State Assembly will be returning to work in Sacramento on Monday May 4th. They will start with a Check-in session and then hold their first committee hearing that afternoon (Transportation Committee). The plan is for each committee to hold one hearing and there will be only one hearing scheduled at a time. The hearings will be held in one of three locations to allow for social distancing and teleconferencing. The Assembly believes that the California Constitution does not allow for remote voting, so all committee members will be in attendance at the hearings. Testimony will only be allowed telephonically. However, the Senate, unlike the Senate, believes they do have the ability under the California Constitution to do remote voting.
