High school and college students submitted videos highlighting how special districts truly make the difference in communities throughout California.

Over the next few weeks, CSDA staff will review and score each video based on four criteria: accuracy and effectiveness, creativity and originality, production quality, and entertainment value. The five videos with the highest overall scores will be featured on the Districts Make the Difference website.

Starting November 1, everyone is encouraged to watch the top five videos and vote for their favorite video. The three highest vote-winners will receive a scholarship prize. The first-place winner will be awarded $2,000 with $1,000 awarded to the second-place winner and $500 awarded to the third-place winner.

This year, multiple CSDA affiliated chapters participated in the Districts Make the Difference Student Video Contest. The Alameda County Special Districts Association, Contra Costa Special Districts Association, and Santa Clara County Special Districts Association are each holding a local contest in conjunction with the statewide competition. Students who submitted videos featuring a special district from those chapters have a chance to win their local contest prize. Participating chapters will inform students if they are selected as a local contest winner.

For the statewide contest, the public voting period will run from November 1 through November 30. Starting November 1, encourage people to learn about special districts and vote for their favorite video. Post about the voting period on social media using our contest graphic  and visit the Districts Make the Difference website to vote for the best video featuring the many ways special districts make a difference in California.
