The National Special Districts Coalition provides weekly highlights for CSDA Members on newly-opened federal grant opportunities, as curated by The Ferguson Group (TFG). This week’s selection of grants include:
 

Department of Energy

FY 2023 American-Made SolarAPP+ Prize

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program encourages the adoption of SolarAPP+ by local governments with authority over residential rooftop solar photovoltaic permitting. SolarAPP+ is an automated permitting software tool, developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NERL), that provides instant permit approval on code-compliant residential rooftop solar systems. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local governments that qualify as authorities having jurisdiction, including counties, cities, and incorporated towns and villages. Applicants must have authority over residential rooftop solar photovoltaic permitting.

Department of Interior

FY 2023 Recovery Challenge Fund

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program enhances and increases partnerships with agencies and organizations implementing high-priority recovery actions, in particular for genetically sound breeding, rearing, and reintroduction programs, as well as to develop or update recovery plans Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Eligibility for this program is unrestricted. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the biology of the involved listed species and its ecosystem, including preferably having worked with the species in the past.

Department of Interior

FY 2023 Small Surface Water and Groundwater Storage Projects

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program supports small surface water and groundwater storage projects to request cost-shared funding for the planning, design, and/or construction of those projects. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local, state, other public institution/organization, Federally Recognized Indian Tribal governments, and Native American organizations located within 17 Western States that have submitted a Feasibility Study to Reclamation for review by October 31, 2022.

FY 2023 Brownfields Assessment Grants 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to provide funding for developing inventories of brownfield sites, prioritizing sites, conducting community involvement activities, conducting planning, conducting site assessments, developing site-specific cleanup plans, and developing reuse plans related to brownfield sites Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local governments, land clearance authorities or another quasi-governmental entity that operates under the supervision and control of, or as an agent of, a general purpose unit of local government, government entities created by a state legislature, regional councils or groups of general purpose units of local government, redevelopment agencies, states, Indian Tribes other than those located in Alaska, Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation, and Metlakatla Indian Community, nonprofit organizations, limited liability corporations in which all partners are nonprofits, and qualified community development entities.

WHEN'S IT DUE: November 22, 2022

FY 2023 Brownfields Cleanup Grants 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to provide funding for eligible entities to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites owned by the applicant. Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local governments, land clearance authorities or another quasi-governmental entity that operates under the supervision and control of, or as an agent of, a general purpose unit of local government, government entities created by a state legislature, regional councils or groups of general purpose units of local government, redevelopment agencies, states, Indian Tribes other than those located in Alaska, Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation, and Metlakatla Indian Community, nonprofit organizations, limited liability corporations in which all members are nonprofits, and qualified community development entities.

FY 2023 Brownfields Multipurpose Grants 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provide funding for the direct costs associated with the inventory, site prioritization, site reuse planning, community involvement, assessment, cleanup planning, and cleanup.  Click here for more information. 

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local governments, land clearance authorities or another quasi-governmental entity that operates under the supervision and control of, or as an agent of, a general purpose unit of local government, government entities created by a state legislature, regional councils or groups of general purpose units of local government, redevelopment agencies, states, Indian Tribes other than those located in Alaska, Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation, and Metlakatla Indian Community, nonprofit organizations, limited liability corporations, and limited partnerships in which all partners are nonprofits, and qualified community development entities.

Districts pursuing grants but are uncertain of their options may complete NSDC’s Project Idea Portal for a connection directly to TFG.
