Sacramento, CA — Special districts and individuals received awards acknowledging their achievements in various areas including exceptional public outreach, leadership, and innovations by the California Special Districts Association (CSDA) during the association’s 51st Annual Conference and Exhibitor Showcase, which was held in Monterey from August 30 – September 2, 2021.
Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) received the 2021 CSDA Exceptional Public Outreach & Advocacy Award (large district category) for its AC Transit Tempo BRT Public Outreach.
Clovis Veterans Memorial District received the 2021 CSDA Exceptional Public Outreach & Advocacy Award (small district category) for its Salute to Patriots (Military Signing Day).
Costa Mesa Sanitary District received the 2021 CSDA Innovative Program of the Year Award (large district category) for Using Artificial Intelligence to Detect the Condition of Sewer Manhole Covers.
Helendale Community Services District received the 2021 CSDA Innovative Program of the Year Award (small district category) for its Helendale Recycling Center.
Padre Dam Municipal Water District received the 2021 CSDA Excellence in Technology Award for its DigAlert Response Program.
Ventura County Special Districts Association (VCSDA) received the 2021 CSDA Chapter of the Year Award.
Commissioner Russell Jeffries of Moss Landing Harbor District received the 2021 CSDA Board Member of the Year Award. Staff from the offices of Representative Jimmy Panetta and State Senator John Laird presented Commissioner Jeffries with Certificates of Recognition on behalf of the legislators.
Gina Terraneo, Management Analyst II of Costa Mesa Sanitary District, received the 2021 CSDA Staff Member of the Year Award.
Kevin Loewen, CSDM, of El Dorado Hills Community Services District received the 2021 CSDA General Manager of the Year Award.
Jim Friedl, CSDM, General Manager of Conejo Recreation and Park District, received the 2021 CSDA Ralph Heim Exceptional Outreach & Advocacy Award.
Stanley Caldwell, Board Member of Mt. View Sanitary District, received the 2021 CSDA William Hollingsworth Award of Excellence.
Turlock Irrigation District received the 2021 Leadership in Climate Action and Adaptation Award from CSDA affiliate organization, the Institute for Local Government (ILG), as part of their Beacon Leadership and Innovation Awards.
