The 2020 Districts Makes the Difference Student Video Contest is now open, kicking off efforts to raise awareness and increase civic engagement as part of Special Districts Week, May 17 – 23. In addition to the $3,500 in student scholarship prizes available, this year’s winners will each receive an additional prize of $500 for their classroom or teacher to promote technology and distance learning.

CSDA’s statewide Districts Make the Difference Video Contest encourages high school and college students to learn about the local governments that serve their classmates and families. Students are challenged to create a 90-second video highlighting how special districts have enhanced the lives of Californians through the delivery of local services and infrastructure to their community.

Special districts and other organizations can find more information, including tools to promote the Student Video Contest at www.DistrictsMakeTheDifference.org. Special districts officials and partners are also encouraged to promote Special Districts Week using the sample resolution, sample newsletter, social media icon, and other resources found in the Special Districts Week Toolkit.
