Five finalists have been selected in the 2019 Districts Makes the Difference Student Video Contest for a chance to win one of three scholarship prizes.
The five videos will be available this week at DistrictsMakeTheDifference.org for anyone to vote for their favorite. The first-place vote-getter will win a $2,000 scholarship, while second will receive $1,000 and third will receive $500.
Students were challenged to create a 60-90 second video that explains the importance of special districts in a creative and interesting way. Voting will take place throughout the month of November and the winner will be announced in early December.
The Finalists (in no particular order) are:
- “Special Districts in Sacramento” by Maryam Aslam of Sacramento
- “Why Special Districts are Special” by Andrew Simon of La Mesa
- “What Makes Special Districts Special” by Scott Betterly of Carlsbad
- “California’s Special Districts” by Erubiel Monterrosa of Bakersfield
- “Importance of Special Districts: Wild West Edition” by Jordan Chan of San Marcos
