Last Wednesday, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. gave his annual State of the State Address to report on the condition of California. The governor’s report was optimistic, depicting California as a place of investment and innovation for high-speed rail, water infrastructure and schools.

Overall, the governor covered a wide range of topics, such as job growth, pension reform, renewable energy, improving schools and prison realignment. During his address he ardently defended his ballot initiative to raise taxes in order to close the remaining budget deficit and reduce budget cuts to schools and other government programs.
