AB 2216 5% Retention Limitation Fails Passage PDF Print E-mail

Over the Legislature’s summer recess, amendments were taken to Assembly Bill 2216 (Fuentes), which would have prohibited public agencies from retaining more than five percent of proceeds on public contracts. CSDA strongly opposed these costly new restrictions which would have applied regardless of the contractor’s performance of duties. AB 2216 failed passage on the last day of Legislative Session, August 31.

Keep Prepared and Aware of State Budget PDF Print E-mail

Budget season is well underway in Sacramento and CSDA wants to make sure you have the tools to keep your district prepared for what this year’s budget battle might bring.  Article IV, Section 12(c) of the California Constitution requires that the budget bill must be passed by midnight on June 15, and the new fiscal year begins July 1.

AB 155 Defeated in Final Hours of Legislative Session PDF Print E-mail

CSDA successfully worked on an effort over the 2009-10 Legislative Session to stop AB 155 by Assembly Member Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia).  The bill would have created unnecessary and harmful obstacles for local agencies in need of Chapter 9 bankruptcy protections.

Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California State Legislature have approved legislation to move the Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act to the November 2012 statewide ballot.  Moving forward, special districts may still pass a resolution in support of the measure as efforts to enact this bond will remain active through 2012.
