The four-module series designed for board members, general managers, and anyone interested in a comprehensive analysis of the purpose and functions of the board has ample openings this summer.
Module 4 - The Board's Role in Human Resources will be offered in the Monterey area on July 29 at the Monterey Regional Water Management District. This module explores the relationship and role of the board with its employees, who are its means to fulfill the district's mission and goals. Special District Leadership Academy Modules 2 and 3 are also on the horizon. SDLA Module 2 – Setting Direction/Community Leadership will be available in Port Hueneme and surrounding areas on August 5 at the Oxnard Harbor District. This workshop takes a crucial look at the board's function as head and guide of the district. It defines and explains the board's responsibility to take charge of directing the district in a manner that consistently follows the mission and vision as set forth by the governing board. SDLA Module 3 – Board's Role in Finance & Fiscal Accountability scheduled for August 26 at the Oxnard Harbor District in Port Hueneme is also open for registration. This module observes and explains the board's role in managing district finances to faithfully support and uphold the mission of the district. It examines the board's use of the district budget to reflect success or weakness in district strategies, plans, and visions for future progress.
