CalPERS Board to Hear PEPRA “Package B” Implementation Regulations

An initial hearing of a second set of proposed regulations needed to fully implement the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) will go before the CalPERS board this week, triggering a 45-day public comment period. “Package B” regulations impact mostly “new” members, or those brought into CalPERS or a reciprocal retirement system on or after January 1, 2013.

State Responsbility Area Fire Prevention Fees PDF Print E-mail

Legislation introduced to repeal current SRA Fire Prevention Fee

Three separate but nearly identical pieces of legislation have been introduced to repeal the current $150 per structure fire prevention fee levied in state responsbility areas(SRAs). An additional bill, SB 125 (Gaines), seeks to provide SRA fee exemptions for structure-owners in fire protection district boundaries. In the meantime, the State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection continues to hold hearings to address concerns related to incorrect billing, protest procedures, and credits for homeowner association and fire protection district fees.

Model Policies for Adopting Positions on State Legislation PDF Print E-mail

Throughout the year, CSDA will send out a Call to Action on a specific bill or issue that significantly impacts the special district community. Likewise, a special district may choose to take a position on a piece of legislation that specifically impacts its services in a positive or negative way.

Formally registering your district’s position on
legislation is a fundamental step in order to impact policy decisions made in Sacramento.
